Customer Brief

The customer brief was to provide the school with an all inclusive, sound and video solution, which would be custom engineered to suit a 330 seat performance theatre.

The fit-out would comprise of  a ‘front of house’ performance sound reinforcement system and video solutions which would be centrally controlled and have, ease-of-use.

The systems put in place had to take into account all facets of the life of the theatre, including, musical and theatre performances, lectures, formal presentations, informal staff meetings, Q&As and (roll in roll out), video conferencing events.

Noisebox Solution

Noisebox used  ‘line array’ technologies in a left centre right configuration. The speakers were flown from the theatre roof trussing in such a way as to be hidden from the audience viewing sight lines.

The sound system will support the broadcast of voice and instruments, acoustic and amplified.

On stage monitoring includes dual side fill, and 2 x send front line, on a matrix routing platform.

Microphones include, radio, headsets and hand held options.

An array of performance connectivity options including floor boxes and mobile stage boxes were provided.

Video

3 x projection systems are featured in the space.

1 x large 180″ widescreen format which is located over the stage and recesses back into the truss line when not in use the  projector is installed 25metres away in the control room.

2 x projector lifters drop the side displays into and out of position when required. Location of side projectors, out of the audience line of sight, was essential.

Other video elements include a feed to a marshalling area to display the performance onto a 55″ LED screen and a bidirectional AV link to the adjacent theatre.

All input sources including the floor boxes for PC presentation, the camera and other connection possibilities are fully matrixed, allowing for any input to be switched to any of the 3 Theatre projections screens, the marshalling area and the adjacent theatre.

Control

Integration of all components and the control options are embedded into an AMX control system. Access to the control is through  a customised GUI on 2 x AMX 10″ touch screens and 1 x iPad, allowing for a variety of  access to the control depending upon the performance type.

Stage Curtains

Motorised stage drapes were installed providing a more traditional performance environment and also addresses the acoustic reverberation within the theatre that was colouring the sound within the theatre.
