Provide a Movie Theatre and Sporting Venue in the middle of 4 multistorey residential towers to a potential audience of 500 residents picnicking in the sky garden ? – and by the way don’t create any noise pollution as not all of the residents want to watch the world Cup final at 3am in the morning….. easy!
This was the brief from the Client …
The Video screen is a 10-metre x 6 metre – 12mm pixel pitch outdoor IP rated Video display capable of delivering 720P HD video programs. LED technology is not new, what is new is the development of SMD manufacturing techniques which allows for closer grouping of the LED’s leading to higher resolution displays.
The audio solution was a little more challenging, but two solutions were ultimately chosen to meet the brief.
- In scenarios where smaller audiences attended the Venue a small, short throw sound reinforcement solution was deployed, this had limited spill and did not exacerbate the close proximity of some of the units to the Venue – on some this was closer than 20 metres.
- We made the assumption that most residents would have a smart phone and some personal audio devices – having confirmed our suspicions with the Client we deployed a Wi Fi enabled transmission of the program audio directly to the resident’s smart phones. In this way we managed to deliver audio at whatever volume the users required with no audible presence into the surrounding residential units. The Sky garden is 50 metres x 45 metres – covering this enormous footprint with clear and consistent coverage would have culminated in a deluge of noise complaints. To date there have been none, and the venue is a jewel in this communal living environment.
